For three or four years I participated in Per's sessions and let me say every session was GREAT!

For those who need to know, I'm "straight" ... "retired" ... live 20 miles away ... and fortunately none of those words mattered when we entered Per's studio. My participation in Per's sessions were interrupted by my prostate cancer surgery four years ago and other physical issues ... those other issues now seem to have been the onset of peripheral neuropathy which was diagnosed a year ago. (Now I understand why I couldn't stand on one leg without reaching out for the wall!)

I continue to hope that, pending space available, I'll be able to return to Per's studio "some day" to continue something that I miss very much.

Yes, I'm one of those guys that Per mentioned above ... one of those folks who asked about "what happens if somebody who knows me ends up in the same place" ... and with time I was able to move beyond another name to my own name ... and after that I found that that anonymity was never an issue.

I continue to appreciate the warmth that I found in that studio ... literally in terms of heat and sweat generated by a room full of naked guys working through yoga poses ... and figuratively in terms of mutual support provided by guys who came together as strangers and became brothers in a common practice.

I also appreciated then, and miss now, the spiritual guidance that Per provides. At first, next to wondering what a friend might say if he saw me there, my greatest concern was if Yoga conflicted with my own faith tradition (which is Christian). Since beginning my Yoga practice, I have been amazed at the emphasis within my faith tradition for folks to consider Yoga. Many congregations have weekly Yoga sessions as a part of their Wellness programs. In addition, everytime Per talked about his "spiritual journey" (my words, not his) I found connections with my own.

I know this response is almost 2 years after the posting of the interview ... but I just found this website ... and when I saw the interview with Per I just had to respond and encourage any guy who hasn't tried nude yoga for men to do so sooner rather than later. If you live in the Chicago area, you won't find a better Yogi than Per Erez!
