Jon Mann’s Sensuous Photography

In creating a post, I usually feature ten or twelve examples of an artist’s work. In Jon Mann’s case, I couldn’t resist topping twenty. He brings you images you’ll think about again before the day is over, women you fantasize about, the girl next door with a delightful smile and a naughty streak. Within one image, he brings you mystery and innocence, beauty and intrigue, fantasy and the very real possibilities of a fortunate life. Jon Mann’s girls put themselves before his camera, and therefore before your eyes, uninhibited and exposing not only their feminine beauty, but the intrigues and beauty inside.

Can you imagine a photo-shoot between this talented photographer and these girls, the things they say, the poses they plan, the discussions about boundaries? Can you imagine the fun they must have combing over the finished pictures over coffee? Can you imagine paying your bills with a career like this?

Peter Breen’s Artistic Self-Photography

“London Based photographer/artist Peter Breen has been doing a provocative series of self portraits for years now, usually clad only in sneakers and socks, or bits of costuming. Breen’s objectification of his own body is both intimate and otherworldly. It’s an interesting statement on male beauty viewed through a queer lens when so much attention is placed on objectification of the aesthetic that Breen chose; self portraits, that at times are erotic but often candid or just as often frighteningly uneasy. His work seems voyeuristically private and bravely so; a revelation of the inner world of the modern male psyche and its place at odds with the changing nature of the his place in said world. He toys with the masculine and the feminine and has a great grasp for capturing the natural light of the outdoors.” …by Andrew Klaus.

Katrine Neoromantika Redefines Sensuous Photography

If imagination was defined by its value in gold, Katrine Neoromantika would be Gold Finger. If talent was an ocean, Katrine would be the Pacific. If sensuality was a city, she would be Paris. She has taken the art form of photography and reinvented it.

It’s difficult to imagine being the man in front of Katrine’s lens. Most likely you would be naked. Not only your body, but your very core would be exposed. You are likely to be in for some rather pleasant surprises you could have never envisioned. Your image would be destined to live forever in the annals of high art. Emotionally, you would forever be changed.

Sometimes Katrine models for herself, sometimes for other photographers. The images above and below are of her, taken by herself. To see more, or buy a print, visit:

Some people believe gay men can be turned straight. Institutions and rehabilitation centers exist for that purpose … all of which have dismal records. If such a conversion were actually possible, if it had a chance to succeed, I dare say a photo shoot with Katrine Neoromantika would be more effective than all the other institutions combined. Clearly, Katrine is talented. She is also one of the most beautiful women on the planet. She either modeled for or photographed herself for all the female images in this piece.

Katrine is a Russian photographer inspired by a genuine interest in men, their emotionality, their beauty and their most secret sexual desires, based on her life experiences not common in women her age.

From Katrine’s biography:

“Neoromantika was born in 1982 and throughout her childhood she moved repeatedly to various locations, including a military operations base. Throughout her life she has been engaged in different kinds of creative endeavors, such as art, dance and music. For sixteen years, she was devoted to music and enjoyed an active musical career – singing and playing in different underground musical groups. At the same time, she worked as a nurse in hospital; however because of a serious traumatic experience, she has been compelled to stop the musical activity.”

“At that point, she began to search for the possibility of an emotional realization in other kinds of arts and she started with photography. Katrine has studied with well-known Russian BDSM photographer Vlad Gansovsky, with whom she experienced first-hand how to work with models.

All of the skills that she has learned and various life experiences that she had have quickly helped her to find her unique theme for creativity.”

Nothing about a man is taboo: his physical beauty, his psyche, his fantasies, nor any shadowy nuance of his body.

.

Katrine is just as open-minded when she models. Her beauty, her submissiveness, her feminine wiles, all of her is in the hands of the photographer. What credentials that photographer must have. Continue reading

Guglielmo Plüschow

Guglielmo Plüschow (born Wilhelm Plüschow; August 18, 1852 – January 3, 1930), was a German photographer who moved to Italy and became known for his nude photos of local youths, predominantly males (but also females). Being the cousin of Wilhelm von Gloeden, who, despite taking up nude photography later than Plüschow, soon overshadowed him, Plüschow was several times at odds with the law and charged with corruption of minors. Today, his photography is recognized for its artistic merits, even though it is generally considered somewhat inferior to von Gloeden’s on account of his less graceful handling of lighting and the sometimes strangely stilted poses of his models.

In the early 1870s, he moved to Rome and changed his first name from “Wilhelm” to its Italian equivalent “Guglielmo”. Initially making a living as a wine merchant, he soon turned to male and female nude photography. Later he also worked in Naples.

Plüschow was criticized by some, even arrested once in Italy for his photography of young boys. Whatever his personal motive for frequently using boys as models, he produced some remarkable images. I personally see his photography as a celebration of the human form. Some of the images are indeed sensual, but not sexual. They reflect the beauty and the fresh qualities of youth, a promise of sorts for the future. Many of them reflect the timeless beauty of emotion and life. His work today is generally seen for its merit.

Knowing what it’s like to be a young boy, modeling for photographs like these would have been a true gift, had it been my experience. What my parents failed to teach me, I would have learned from a photographer like Plüschow; that nudity and the human body are natural, beautiful things. These young men are long since gone. I doubt very seriously that posing for these pictures had a negative impact on their (hopefully) long lives.

Actually, I did have an experience with an older man when I was seventeen, one that I’m reminded of when I look at these pictures. He was a publisher in his late forties that apparently saw merit in my writing. We got to be friends as I met with him at his home office, where he would critique my work. Being a gay man, he once asked me if I was interested. Adventurous as I was then, I wasn’t quite ready for intimacy with an older man, so when I declined, the suggestion never came up again. One evening he wore nothing but his briefs while we reviewed my latest paragraphs. Though I was a very young man, none of this influenced me nor cause any lifelong psychological traumas. I suspect the same holds true for the young boys in these photographs.

Brooke Shaden’s Imaginative World

Is it photography or is it art? Only one answer applies … it’s both.

It occurred to me that Brooke might be a descendant of Salvador Dali. What else could explain such talent in a twenty-four year old photographer from Los Angeles?

A Photographer in the Making

Matthew is a twenty-two year old college student majoring in photography at the Art Institute. These are some of the self-nude photographs that he composed himself.

.

Some of the images have been cropped to better fit this format. To see the originals and more, or send suggestions for future poses, visit Matthew’s website at

Matthew’s Naked Art.

.

His own words:

“Why do I get naked on camera for the world to see?

First, when we are naked we are all equal, you could be the rich or poor, being naked allows us to reflect on the fact that we all are the same.

Second, I also believe that the human body is one of the most amazing things about life. We should all take a minute and realize just how incredible it really is.”
