Masculine Characteristics

It’s in vogue these days for men to shave various or all parts of their bodies. While there is something to be said for smooth male bodies, I can’t help but believe broad use of the razor is more than a passing fancy, something reserved for men whose partners prefer smooth men, and for guys that may want to try it once to see what’s it like. Aesthetically, it’s difficult to argue against the appeal of men with well-landscaped body hair.

My Body Is Hairy

A question from Anonymous:

I was wondering about an insecurity of mine. I’m still a young guy, but I have a hairy body. It’s just my back that basically isn’t hairy. Do guys find guys attractive that have a hairy body? My ass is also pretty hairy (I’m talking cheeks too…) and shaving or using creams really hurts when it grows back, because I guess the hair is too course and dark.

Do you have any suggestions?

My reply:

The beautiful thing about the male body is the dynamic variations from one man to the next. Body hair is just one of the variations A man can be very hairy to practically hairless, and everything in between. Hair patterns and colors are part of the mix, as varied as snowflakes. All of this influences your potential mate or companion. No matter how hairy your are, there is someone out there that will be wild about you just the way you are. And as far as hairy men are concerned, judging by the pol below, they are very popular and seen as masculine, attractive and desirable men.

Then again, if you are concerned, if you feel you have too much hair and feel insecure about it, there are excellent remedies to consider that address this issue. Laser hair removal for one. Most guys aren’t concerned about having a hairy ass … many of us think hairy asses are extremely sexy, but you might not want hair on your shoulders, for example. Schedule an appointment with a technician that specializes in laser hair removal (waxing is just a temporary fix I wouldn’t recommend with your circumstances), get their analysis, determine if you want to spend the money, then go for it if it will make you feel better about yourself.

But to answer your question directly; yes, many guys find male body hair irresistibly attractive.

Wanna Shave Your Balls

I recommend using an epilator. This is a device with rotating tweezer heads that looks like an electric shaver. As the heads rotate, the tweezers open and close, grabbing your hairs and pulling them out by the root. Not for the faint of heart, but I’ve heard it said the sensation is much like getting a tattoo, and with experience it gets most every hair, leaving your skin completely smooth.

I use an Emjoi AP-18MS Emagine Epilator for Men, BlackEpilators) and I’m very happy with it.

Before using the epilator, trim your hair to about the length in the above picture. To lessen the pain of your hair being pulled out, it is recommended to first take a warm bath or shower to open your pores. The first time will be the most painful. After that, you become used to using an epilator and plus the hair that grows back isn’t as thick so it comes out easier.

Pull the skin tight and smooth as possible anywhere you use the epilator. It may take several passes. Still a few hairs may remain which you can easily get with tweezers. The results, unlike shaving, will last weeks (depending on how quickly your pubic hair usually grows) and you and your partner will enjoy smooth, baby soft skin.

Bare Skin … What do Models and Photographers Say?

Why do so many male models shave or wax their body and pubic hair. I can understand professional body builders, but models, not so much. Women seem to have shaved for many years now, but it seems a more recent for men. I think body hair is very masculine and isn’t that what we want to project as a ‘male’ model?  I don’t have much chest hair to start with and wish i was hairier. Beards and mustaches are another masculine characteristic, but maybe that’s a different subject, though related.

I think the hairless look is waning now.  I think its been the norm for so long now that most models think thats what photographers and artists want.  Personally I think body hair actually accentuates the musculature of men.

We always want whatever it is we don’t have.  The same goes for body hair.  Personally, I take into consideration each model whether to leave hirsuite or shaved–or trimmed.  For underwear shots, there are two ways to look at it and how sexual I want to take the image-the more hair the more sexual and the less hair the more sensual.  Hair lends sexuality whereas trimmed tames the beast.  Depending upon how fitting a man trims his bush and how much he is into understanding the art of genital shaving determines whether the look is hot or not.  As far as keeping the anus clean shaved I am absolutely in favor from a personal and professional viewpoint.  As a photographer a photographer and (in the day) a former nude model, I always preferred a shaved ass and legs because I can concentrate on the bodyscape and hair seems to interrupt the flow of the view.  But variation on a theme is what keeps art interesting, as well as people.  Kudos to all who feel strongly one way or the other on this interesting topic.

I have come to the realization and conclusion that everybody has a look that works for them.  The masculine completely natural appearance is what I find to be appealing in art, and is what I am interested in capturing in the male models that I photograph.  I ask the men to keep all hair natural – no trimming, no shaving, no waxing – full eyebrows, full underarms hair, full pubic hair, legs hair, and so forth.

We don’t all look alike. Some of us are “naturally” smooth and some hairy. How can i take you as you are when you alter who you are?
